U.S. DOL Releases AI Literacy Framework for Employers and More
On February 13th, the U.S. Department of Labor announced the release of its AI Literacy Framework which outlines five foundational content areas and seven delivery principles for AI literacy. It is intended to be a resource to guide program design and deployment of AI literacy efforts, while allowing for flexibility and adaptation across industries, roles, educational sectors, and other workforce-related contexts.
Foundational content areas include how to understand, explore, direct, evaluate and use AI responsibly. There are then seven principles for effective delivery of AI Literacy.
If you are looking for how-to guidance, this is not it. It is exactly what the title suggests, a framework. The announcement does invite workforce stakeholders and others with suggestions for additional guidance to contact the DOL’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA). Stakeholders interested in participating in a training webinar about the AI Literacy Framework can indicate their interest by emailing aiworkforce@dol.gov TIP: You may want to talk to your company’s legal counseling before sending an email.
