Social Media and Its Workplace Implications

A court’s decision regarding “the Tik Tok rule” made the news in 2024. Much of it was focused on 1st and 4th amendment rights and related impact to government contractors. It also re-energized discussions about private and public sector employers’ right to monitor, restrict, ban, or take other actions related to an employee’s use of social media on and off work time, using personal or company devices.
