Advocacy for HR Professionals

As we start our new year, Congress has gotten back to work and so have many state legislatures. This program will cover what’s trending by way of federal and state legislative trends, pending regulatory agency actions, and what may lie on the horizon under the new Administration. Most importantly, we will review tips for engaging in advocacy to help shape these important public policy issues at the federal and state levels that impact HR policies, programs, and practices.

NOTE: To ensure this program meets the requirements for providing you with HRCI business credits, it will not cover the Executive Orders recently issued except where a federal agency has announced action it will be publishing a related rule.

Topics expected to be covered include and are not limited to:

  • state and local legislative trends including:
    • providing support for service members and veterans;
    • employers’ use of AI;
    • breaking the paper ceiling (skills over degrees);
    • unemployment insurance reform;
    • Technical corrections to Maryland’s Parental Leave and Noncompete laws – that may apply other states;
    • ways you can draft talking points to advocate for your elected or appointed officials’ support or opposition on related matters;
  • what may lie on the horizon; and more.
