ADA Update
On August 29th, the EEOC sued three employers for disability discrimination announcing, “The ADA has been the law of the land for nearly 35 years, but unfortunately many qualified individuals with disabilities still aren’t getting the common-sense accommodations they need in order to do their jobs…”
In the EEOC’s most recent charge statistics, disability-based charges hit their highest level in the last five years. This program will review select cases in the last 12 months, lessons learned from each, proactive resources for you and your employees who face physical, mental, and other challenges impacting their ability to fulfill their potential. Topics will include and are not limited to:
- EEOC’s 2024 Guidance on Workplace Harassment as it relates to actual or perceived disability, as well as the association provisions;
- Tips from the EEOC & DOL’s 2023 Disability Resource Guide;
- leave as a reasonable accommodation;
- pre-employment inquiries and disclosures;
- ADA & FMLA overlap issues;
- and more.
