FREE Event: U.S. DOL’s Proposed Independent Contractor Rule – What Questions They’re Asking
On February 13th, a judge found that an employer and individual managers violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) by misclassifying workers as independent contractors instead of employees. The judge sent the case to a jury to consider whether the claim filed by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) for nearly $6M for willful violations was warranted.
Two weeks later, on February 27th, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) published a proposed rule for determining whether a worker is properly classified as an independent contractor versus an employee. They are seeking comments on more than 30 aspects of the proposed rule.
Join this interactive webcast as we walk through some of their key questions, pose our own, and lay the framework for drafting your own feedback to shape this important public policy issue. The deadline for submitting comments is April 28th.
