Wage & Hour Updates: From Woes to WOWs
- On January 5th, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced that it would modify the way it evaluated the use of unpaid interns by for-profit employers. Under the new analysis, the focus will be on assessing who is the “primary beneficiary” of the work performed.
- Then, discontinued under the prior Administration, the DOL has returned to issuing wage and hour Opinion Letters, publishing 17 letters on January 5, 2018.
- And, courts continue to address claims filed by employees alleged to be victims of “wage theft.”
